Japanese Anemones 2008

I am originally from Liverpool and moved to Northumberland some twenty-seven years ago. I fell in love with the landscape, the coastline and the diverse nature of the terrain.

The art work I am currently engaged with is inspired by my love of my garden and all things natural. I work mainly in watercolour, pen and ink and acrylic and love experimenting with the potential of the media creating semi-abstract and abstract works. I take pleasure in working in my garden and walking through the countryside and most of my work originates from the shapes, colours and textures to be found in nature. I aspire to work in innovative and experimental ways, creating works that are evocative of nature and responsive to natural organic forms.

I am currently in my final year of a BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Sunderland University. I have completed the course part time working around my family and job, not always an easy feat. I am recently retired and look forward to many happy hours devoted to my love of painting and exploring the landscape.

I aspire to work in innovative and experimental ways, creating works that are evocative of nature and responsive to natural, organic forms.
